Puzzle for the Day
Anagram for the Day

Chicken Puzzle

A farmer was asked how many chickens they had sold at market that day.

Their reply was:

"I've had four customers today, and each bought half of my remaining chickens, plus a half chicken."

The farmer sold all of their chickens at market that day. How many chickens did the farmer sell?

Solution (Previous Puzzle):

Many injured animals are invited to live at the 'Toronto Range'. Stop in kangaroo corner and marvel at the lovely creatures within. Dig over the potato patch to find small furry caterpillars, but don't yell! Owls can be found swooping for edible rodents, earwigs or perhaps bluebottles in the undergrowth. The brown bear, Rob, lacks grace and may look like an ogre, enter at your own risk! Peacocks can be found showing their colourful wares, which look fantastic when viewed with our ultraviolet torch.

An anagram is a word made by using letters of another word in a different order.
Example: shot à host

Find the anagram for the following:

Slain
Slime
Smash

Solution (Previous):
SIREN : RESIN, RINSE, RISEN
SKIDS : DISKS
SKILL : KILLS

Why do animals have such different lifespans? - Joao Pedro de Magalhaes
For the microscopic lab worm C. elegans, life equates to just a few short weeks on Earth. The bowhead whale, on the other hand, can live over two hundred years. Why are these lifespans so different? And what does it really mean to ‘age' anyway? Joao Pedro de Magalhaes explains why the pace of aging varies greatly across animals.
